This is Yoshinoya, a beef bowl fast food store. When we lived in Virginia, every time we went back to Japan in Summer, my husband and son were so excited to go and eat in Yoshinoya. Once I traveled with my son to New York and stayed in a rather luxurious hotel near Times Square. We decided to go explore the city for a nice dinner or something, and as soon as we went out the hotel and made one turn, he found Yoshinoya and insisted he eats there. I went along with him even though I had a fancier place in my mind. Well, well, now we have it around the corner. In Virginia, whenever I was too tired to cook, we just picked up Pizza. Here in California, it's beef bowls from Yoshinoya. The menu has been modified to accommodate the American taste. They serve, in addition to the infamous beef bowl, chicken bowl, shrimp bowl and vegetable bowl. They opened the first store in the US in 1975. They have operations also in China, Taiwan, Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia, and Australia.
