今日は、ガールスカウトのバッジ授与式。秋から活動を始めていましたが、本日の授与式で、ガールスカウトバッジを授与され、みんな正式にガールスカウトとなりました。We had a girl scout investiture ceremony this evening. We have been meeting every other Friday starting last fall, but today everybody god the badges and became a girl scout officially.
ひとりずつ、全米ガールスカウト団体のバッジとブラウニーのバッジのふたつをつけてもらいます。この年のガールスカウトはブラウニーと呼ばれます。18歳まで年齢ごとに６つの段階に分かれていて、デイジー、ブラウニー、ジュニア、カデット、シニア、アンバサダーと上がっていきます。これからみんなで一緒に成長していけるのはとても楽しみ。Everybody got two badges, one for the Girl Scouts USA and the other for the Brownie. They have six levels from kindergarten to the 12th grade; Daisy, Brownie, Junior, Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador. It's wonderful that they can grow together in this troop.
これは子どもたちが肩から掛けているサッシュと呼ばれるもの。今は、バッジがふたつ。いろいろなアクティビティーやボランティアをすることによって、バッジはどんどん増えていきます。This is the sash girls are wearing. For now they have two badges. They can earn new badges by participating in various activities.
